Modern Art Painting

Welcome to Modern Art Painting!

Here at Modern Art Painting we celebrate one of the most important changes in art that occurred in the latter part of the 20th century – modernism.  Traditionally modern art refers to a forgetting of the traditions of the past and arriving at a more esoteric form of painting which involves truer meaning to the artist within.  Have no idea what I'm talking about?  Read on!

What is modern art painting?

According to wikipedia modern art painting is:

Modern art refers to artistic works produced during the period extending roughly from the 1860s to the 1970s, and denotes the style and philosophy of the art produced during that era.  The term is usually associated with art in which the traditions of the past have been thrown aside in a spirit of experimentation.  Modern artists experimented with new ways of seeing and with fresh ideas about the nature of materials and functions of art. A tendency toward abstraction is characteristic of much modern art. More recent artistic production is often called Contemporary art or Postmodern art.

While a nice dry explanation can give you the overall jist of what modern art painting is it defeats the essence of it!  Modern art painting really allows you to produce the artwork you want as the artist as opposed to fitting within a certain mold or design framework.
